Winchester GP were truly humbled when one of our patients, unprompted, started sending in their weekly experiences of starting the weightloss medication Mounjaro. We think it’s an incredibly brave and generous thing to do, and so are delighted to share their updates verbatim here.

Week 2, weight 101.2kg (8 days in)/100.8kg (13 days in)
Total weight loss 2.5kgI expected a dramatic change after taking my second injection but I felt similar to how I did the day before. My brain and appetite are starting to catch up with each other. I didn't feel as hungry as I did on the last couple of days last week but I'm giving myself the right amount of food so that I'm not leaving as much.
In the mornings I now have one slice of sourdough toast instead of two. If I have poached eggs on toast I only make one slice and one egg and I couldn't eat another bite. I've been allowing myself a snack here and there and been quite comfortable with that but I'm also noticing that age-old saying of “Don't ruin your dinner” rings true so I'm trying to wait for main meals.
I’ve noticed one side effect this week and that's that I can't have more than one drink. I had a Pimm's at the school summer fete and felt quite lightheaded. I just figured the Pimm's must have been strong. However, a few days later I went out in the evening and had a glass of prosecco and a glass of wine and my goodness, the hangover was awful! I’ve always had my hangovers in the night (which is why I don't drink very much) and I haven't experienced a night like that in years. I had shivers for a few hours, nausea and only managed a couple of hours sleep.
I did some research on trusty Google and it seems that Mounjaro can get you drunk quicker so I figure a large hangover is more likely. So I'm not sure I'll be drinking again anytime soon. And if I do, I'll be restricting myself to one drink at a time and no more.
