Menopause Care FAQS
+ What happens after the initial consultation? Will I need follow ups?
If you start on treatment, it can take a few months for hormone levels to adjust and symptoms to settle (although many women experience improvements much quicker than this). We generally recommend a review appointment, usually 20 minutes, at around the 3 month mark. Your doctor can check how you are feeling, and if necessary recommend tweaks to your regime. Once you are established on an HRT regime, review appointments would be at least annually, or at any point between if you feel that your symptoms are not being controlled. It's important to bear in mind that your hormone levels will change over time and at any point in between if your symptoms start to return (it is normal for your dosage needs to change over time)
+ How will prescriptions work?
There is no additional fee for writing prescriptions in a consultation. All prescriptions will be private, and the medication will be charged for by your chosen pharmacy. Prices vary depending on the treatment used, but £15/item/month is a reasonable ball park figure. For repeat prescription requests, outwith a paid consultation, we charge a £15 administration fee to process. If you are one of our subscribers, there is no fee for repeat prescriptions.
+ Can I use my subscription appointments for menopause care?
Yes, absolutely! Our subscriptions start from just £46/month and can cover you for menopause consultations as well as for any other healthcare needs you have in the course of the year. To learn more about our subscription packages go to the the pricing section of our website here.
+ What about blood tests?
Many women are keen to arrange testing to ‘see where they are at’, in relation to clinical norms. Our doctors are very happy to review any tests you have already had, and can arrange further testing if this is felt appropriate. That being said, after assessing for specific risk factors, our doctors are mainly concerned with your personal experience and symptoms. This, in turn, means that regular testing is often not needed at all.
Any investigations undertaken privately will be chargeable, with prices varying according to your individual needs. A typical menopause blood screening package including general health markers and hormone levels starts at £270.
