in our previous blog post, we shared that we probably we won’t be using John Lewis for our health screening needs any time soon….
BUT to show that we mean ‘no shade’ to this high street darling, let us explain why when it comes to carpet fitting they have loyal clients in us. (And what that can tell us about organising healthcare!!)
Allow us to share the many ways in which we regretted once upon a time 'saving money' versus the fully inclusive John Lewis offering
1. The carpet we had ordered direct from discount carpets in Kidderminster sat in the garage waiting for the fitter and got horribly creased
2. Turns out when measuring for carpets, you measure in to the open doorway, Otherwise all your measurements will be c. 20cm short...
3. Our carefully selected local (cheaper) fitter owed his 5 star Trust pilot rating to his tiling efforts. Carpeting was a new diversification for him...
We ended up stressed, humbled, and way more out of pocket to sort the botched job than the original JL quote.
And the link to healthcare is...
As more of us start to consider 'going private', the temptation to bargain hunt is strong. You could google and buy a quick finger prick blood test. But what are you going to do with the results? Will you trust them if they are ‘normal’? And if they are not? What will you do next? Join the queue to see your usual doctor and ask them to pick up the baton?
The first thing they will do is revisit why you ordered that test in the first place (and not myriad others that may be relevant to your concerns)
They'll almost certainly need to repeat the test to confirm its result - because they can't stake your personal safety (or their license to practice) on the strength of a lab unknown to them, and where they have no idea if the sample was taken correctly, how long it took to get to the lab and whether it got too hot or too cold in the post en route…
The bottom line- if you are going to spend money on your health, please think twice before your scrimp or improvise your plan. Pick a team of skilled practitioners who will carefully guide you step by step along a clinically robust pathway. Not only will this ultimately save you money and time, but most importantly a whole heap of extra anxiety. That’s the priceless bit..
Do you have more questions about our service? Not sure whether it’s right for you and your family? Why not book a discovery call with one of our patient liaison team and we can talk through how we can give you the prompt, full medical service that you and your loved ones deserve.
Wishing you well,
